The Beat Lab is a hands-on music production workshop series where participants dive into the art of beat-making and electronic music creation.
Join us for the Beat Lab Summer Series (July 23–28), featuring 14 dynamic workshops in Room 121 at the Greensboro Cultural Center.
Using the Akai MPC, attendees will explore the full spectrum of professional beat-making—from sound design and sampling to arrangement, mixing, and live performance. Whether you're a beginner or looking to sharpen your skills, the Beat Lab is where you unlock your inner producer and create your first beat.

Beats for Everyone is a hands-on electronic music making workshop for adults 18 and up. Participants will discover their musical talents by making their first beat from start to finish.
The Beat Camp is a hands-on beat-making workshop for teens 12-18 years old. Participants will discover their musical talents by making their first beat from start to finish.

With over 25 years in music production and DJing, TJ has devoted his life to the art of sound. From experimenting with early synthesizers to producing music for artists, his passion for electronic music has fueled a lifelong creative journey.
Driven by the joy of music-making and the limitless potential of sound, TJ launched The Beat Lab to make electronic music creation accessible to everyone. Through hands-on workshops and immersive sessions, he empowers others to explore beat-making, sampling, and sound design.
TJ is grateful to Creative Greensboro and the Creative Activation Partners program for supporting his vision. TJ is building a vibrant space where creativity thrives, collaboration grows, and the magic of music creation comes alive for all.
